BPI Building Analyst Certification Pathway
SEEL supports the full BPI Building Analyst credential progression aligned with nationally recognized building performance standards.
Building Science Principles (BSP)
The BPI Building Science Principles certificate establishes foundational building science knowledge and is a prerequisite for the Building Analyst – Technician (BA-T).
Building Analyst – Technician (BA-T)
The BA-T certification focuses on data collection and diagnostic testing.
It is awarded by passing a field exam that includes oral questioning components.
The BSP certificate must be earned prior to receiving the BA-T credential.
Building Analyst – Professional (BA-P)
The BA-P certification covers advanced building analysis, including the use of computer software to model energy upgrade potential and develop a scope of work.
The BA-P is awarded by passing a written exam. The BA-T is a prerequisite and must be maintained concurrently.

Separation of Training and Exam Activities: The training offered by the SEEL BPI Test Center is independent of the evaluation and certification of the candidates that are being trained. This is to ensure that confidentiality and impartiality are not compromised so that BPI, as the certification body, can conform to the requirements of ISO-17024: [ISO/IEC 17024: 2012 (E), Section 5.2].
